Un nativo rara vez dice I will continue; dice I’ll carry on. Tampoco dice Please extinguish the fire, sino Please put out the fire.
Es un verbo + una o dos partículas (preposiciones o adverbios como up, out, on, off, in, down).
- give (dar) + up (arriba) → give up = rendirse, dejar de
- look (mirar) + after (después) → look after = cuidar
- turn (girar) + down (abajo) → turn down = rechazar (o bajar el volumen)
Find out = discover, put off = postpone, go on = continue.
¿Separables o inseparables?
- Separables: el objeto puede ir en medio. Turn off the light = Turn the light off. Si el objeto es un pronombre, tiene que ir en medio: Turn it off (nunca Turn off it).
- Inseparables: el objeto va siempre detrás. Look after your sister (no Look your sister after).

I usually get up at 7, but on Sundays I sleep in.
- Escucha mucho.
